Councillor Noel French has welcomed the announcement of a block grant towards roads and paths in Trim town. A grant of €161,300 was announced by Minister Varadkar last Thursday as part of an overall package of €332M for regional and local roads.
Noel French understands that this grant will be used to finish off the surface and paths at Newhaggard Road. “This is the only approach road to Trim town that is not up to a high standard. Work was commenced last year on the road and part completed and this grant will hopefully finish the work.” “I want to pay tribute to the work of the Council on this road as it will make it easier and safer for residents of Manorlands and the Gallops to access the town centre.”
The block grant has been used in previous years to improve paths and roads in a number of estates and hopefully some funds will be left over from this grant to complete smaller works around the town.
“People will be able to walk safely out to the graveyard when this work is finished. Drivers will also welcome the better road surface and it will improve the image of the town.” concluded Councillor French.

My eyes are filled with tears. I can’t believe that it’s been done. Just 9 years later – we finally have the road!
